Last month, during the same weekend I went to Montalcino, Siena also held its first ever Chocolate Festival! Florence holds one every year, as well as many other cities in Italy, but I missed out on the one in Florence. The chocolate overlords must have known, and decided to come to Siena =) Oh boy was it a good weekend.

Yes, I did spend my whole weekend in the Piazza del Campo at the Chocolate Festival. Friday, a bunch of us did a cioccolato e caffé tasting. I made friends with several of the vendors, who proceeded to give me free chocolate throughout the weekend (I’m talking huge truffles, not just measly little pieces). Of course I went back to visit these “friends” frequently.
Just walking past the different tables was enjoyable – they had every kind of chocolate you could imagine – even chocolate shoes!
